What to Consider When Selecting an Oil Water Separator
There are many misconceptions in the marketplace concerning "oil water separators", " oil water interceptors" and "oil traps". Many companies profess to offer "oil water separators" when in fact, what they sell are just interceptors or traps, which are empty tanks with baffled walls with no effective oil separation technology built in. These look great on paper and appear to be most affordable but baffled walls alone cannot separate oil efficiently. They simply trap some of the oil which is floating on the surface of the water in the tank but they do not separate the oil which is in the water column below the surface.
Interceptors and oil traps can create environmental liability for unsuspecting operators and business owners when they unknowingly discharge oil beyond their legal limits. North American hydrocarbon discharge limits are set at 10 Parts per Million (10 PPM). We guarantee cleaner discharge at 5 PPM
separation efficiency using enhanced coalescing technology to separate free oil. In fact, Freytech separator packages can even separate trace amounts of emulsified oil achieving 0.1 PPM
separation efficiency.
Freytech Enhanced Coalescing Oil Water Separators separate motor oil, diesel, gasoline, jet fuel, and other refined hydrocarbons. Our coalescing media is reusable and can be easily spray washed for years of efficient, trouble free use. By including our optional, patented oil skimmer, the separated oil is automatically and mechanically drained to a separate container – the skimmed oil
will be 99.7 % pure, free of water. Efficiently skimmed used oil is a valuable commodity and is easily recycled at no cost. Skimmed oil with a high- water volume content on the other hand, is not valuable and requires costly disposal. Many other separators on the market require septic truck service to suction out all of the separated oil. With such an antiquated and expensive extraction method, the separated oil is once again mixed with the water and the operator pays by the gallon / liter to have it hauled away and treated in wastewater treatment plants.
OIL WATER SEPARATORS (OWS)
EcoLine A
Above ground oil water separation system to separate non-emulsified light liquids or low-water-soluble fluids with a specific gravity below 0.95 (gasoline, diesel, heating oils and other mineral oils) from effluent discharge.
The EcoTop above ground oil water separator is made of high-grade stainless steel and separates free non emulsified oil in water achieving 5 PPM separation efficiency. Optional EcoSorp available downstream to separate emulsified trace oil providing 0.1 PPM separation efficiency.
Freytech Container Oil Water Separator is a steel cargo container provided turnkey to the client. The container measures either 20 or 40 feet in length and has all of the sedimentation chambers and the oil water separator built into the container itself.
Below ground oil water separation system to separate non-emulsified light liquids or low-water-soluble fluids with a specific gravity below 0.95 (gasoline, diesel, heating oils and other mineral oils) from effluent discharge.
The EcoSorp oil water separator is for use with free or physically emulsified and dissolved oil by adsorption from water and is designed to obtain below 0.1 Part Per Million (PPM) separation efficiency.
Designed to separate non-emulsified light liquids or low-water-soluble fluids with a specific gravity below 0.95 (gasoline, diesel, heating oils and other mineral oils) from effluent discharge.
Our patented mechanical oil skimmer (“ADD”) automatically and mechanically skims the oil that has been separated but is still floating on the surface of the water inside a separator. The skimmed oil will only contain 0.3 % in water volume. This means the operator does not need septic truck service nearly as often since the pure used oil can easily be recycled for free in house or by third party oil recycling companies.
